Hotcakes in Wilmette

The first time I went there, this past summer, was okay. This second time was awful! It wasn't busy and the host/waitress (long blond-ish hair lady) was rude and impatient. She initially expected us to sit, party of 5, at 2 tiny tables. Once seated the table service was equally bad. The same lady (long blond-ish hair) who waited on us forgot to bring our side dish and was combative when we told her one of the orders was wrong. This was my second and last time at HotCakes.

My server was Rosa and i absolutely loved her. She was so patient and kind and sweet. Definitely deserving of every tip. Id 10 out of 10 recommend her as the waitress to see on your next visit

The food was pretty good. I ordered the vegetarian eggs Benedict with tomatoes and my son got the chicken sausage with hot cakes. He enjoyed his meal and was raving about the chicken sausage.I thought my plate was alright but appreciated the generous helping of vegetables. But what was absolutely atrocious was the waitstaff. Our waitress never asked how our meals were, if I wanted more coffee or refilled our glasses of water. In fact my son was thirsty enough where I basically had to give him my glass of water because no one came by. The owner was kind and apologetic when I told her my issue and was grateful that she waived the cup of coffee. But honestly this is not how you serve people. I’m a big proponent oflocal restaurants in the Wilmette area and support them by dining as frequently as I can in our town. This isn’t the way to keep your community happy.

Cash only. Super friendly staff. American and Mexican style breakfasts. I love having Hotcakes in the neighborhood.

Breakfast on Sunday morning is best with the Wilmette Scrambler, consisting of 3 eggs, cheddar cheese, spinach, tomatoes, green pepper, potatoes, and toast!
